At Flamingo Well & Septic, we understand the importance of safe and clean well water. If your well has tested positive for bacterial growth or you've noticed a change in your water quality, such as cloudy well water, a change in water taste and smell, or a concentration of "hard" minerals, it's time to call Flamingo Well & Septic for a well water treatment in Jacksonville, St. Augustine, FL and surrounding areas.
Flamingo Well & Septic is Proud to Offer the following Well Water Treatment Solutions:
Water Softening Treatment for Hard Water
Water hardness can be described as the amount of dissolved calcium and magnesium in water. Water hardness can feel like a film of residue left on hands after washing and look like water residue on dishes. If hard water is present, more soap or detergent is needed when cleaning. A water softening treatment removes the concentration of hard minerals such as calcium and magnesium in well water. These minerals can cause appliance deterioration, high energy bills, calcium water spots on glassware, and dry skin and hair. Have hard water? Well Pump Sediment Filters
Well water has a high content of sand and sediment that settles at the bottom of tanks or wells. Sediments in water can affect home water pressure and water flow, clog plumbing lines, and damage appliances. To improve water quality, installing a sediment filter on your well pump is necessary. The most common type of filter for sediment removal is a cartridge filter. Installing a sediment cartridge filter on your well pump will not only remove large sediments in your well water, but it will also boost flow rate and water pressure and even improve the taste and smell of your well water.
Well Water Chlorination
Chlorination is a well treatment process that uses chlorine to kill bacteria and other microorganisms that can contaminate water. Chlorination is an effective way to disinfect water and make it safe to drink. Your well will most likely need chlorination if a water quality test reveals the presence of coliform bacteria in your well water.
- How Does Water Chlorination Work? To effectively remove bacteria from well water, a Flamingo Well & Septic Water Treatment Specialist will inject chlorine into the water system as the well pump runs. The water and chlorine mixture will then pass into the retention tank where the chlorine will have contact with the contaminated water and kill the coliform bacteria. As the water flows throughout the house, the water passes through a carbon filter that removes the chlorine from the water.
Aeration is the process of removing iron and the odor caused from hydrogen sulfide in well water. The odor, hydrogen sulfide, and can be described as a rotten egg smell. Aeration is used as a pre-treatment for well water. A well water aeration system uses two pumps, two tanks, and an aerator, to oxidize and remove the odor caused by sulfur and the taste of iron in well water. At Flamingo Well & Septic, we offer expert installation and repair of aeration systems. Call 904-913-9111 today for a free estimate!
- How Aerators Work? Air is a powerful oxidizer of both iron and hydrogen sulfide. An aerator pump passes oxygen through the water in the aerator tank. The aerator tank creates a pocket of compressed air that is vented outside through holes at the top or bottom of the tank. The well pump then pulls the aerated water from the aerator tank and supplies the clean treated water to the house.
